easyMarkets is a forex and CFD broker founded in 2001 as Easy Forex and renamed easyMarkets in 2016. It is headquartered in Limassol, Cyprus, and is part of the Blue Capital Markets group, offering more than 275 instruments across forex, indices, commodities, shares, currency crosses and cryptocurrencies.

Overview

Regulation

ASIC CySEC FSCA BVI FSA

The group operates through several entities: Easy Forex Trading Ltd under CySEC in Cyprus, Easymarkets Pty Ltd under ASIC in Australia, EF Worldwide Ltd under the BVI FSC and the FSA of Seychelles, and EF Worldwide (PTY) Ltd under the FSCA in South Africa. South African clients deal with EF Worldwide (PTY) Ltd, a Financial Services Provider licensed by the FSCA under number 54018, but it acts only as an intermediary under the FAIS Act and is not the market maker, product issuer or counterparty. When an account is opened it is registered with EF Worldwide Ltd, authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) of Seychelles under licence SD056, which is the principal and counterparty to trades. That entity falls outside the South African regulatory framework and Seychelles law applies to the account. Complaints about the local intermediary service can be escalated to the FAIS Ombud, while the trading counterparty sits under Seychelles supervision without a South African investor compensation scheme.

Platforms and instruments

easyMarkets TradingView MetaTrader 4 MetaTrader 5

The proprietary easyMarkets platform (web and app) runs on fixed spreads with charts powered by TradingView, while MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 use floating spreads. Copy trading is not offered. The broker lists more than 275 instruments across forex, indices, commodities, shares and cryptocurrencies.

Account types

  • easyMarkets: web, app and TradingView; fixed spreads, EUR/USD from 0.6 pips, no commission, minimum deposit $25, leverage to 1:400
  • Standard: MetaTrader 4 and 5; floating spreads, EUR/USD from 1.2 pips, no commission, minimum deposit $25, leverage to 1:2000
  • VIP: MetaTrader 4 and 5; floating spreads, EUR/USD from 0.6 pips, no commission, minimum deposit $2,500, leverage to 1:2000

No account charges a commission and there are no account fees; pricing is spread-only. The minimum trade size is 0.01 lots. Maximum leverage depends on the platform and the instrument: up to 1:400 on the easyMarkets platform and up to 1:2000 on MetaTrader, where the 1:2000 tier applies to major forex pairs, with lower caps on metals and cryptocurrencies. Leverage is set at the account level and is changed by contacting the account manager rather than from the platform itself. Accounts can be opened in South African rand (ZAR) among other currencies.

Payments for clients from South Africa

easyMarkets charges no fee on deposits. Card and e-wallet deposits are processed instantly, local bank transfer by instant EFT (Ozow) takes up to one business day, bank wire takes up to one business day and crypto up to three hours. Payments are processed by Trust Payments (Malta) Limited, authorised by the Malta Financial Services Authority. South African clients can fund and hold accounts in rand (ZAR).

Withdrawals

Withdrawal requests are processed within two business days (up to 48 hours) after KYC verification; depending on the destination and the bank, funds can take a further 3 to 10 business days to arrive. Withdrawals follow a return-to-source policy: funds are returned to the method used to deposit, or, where that is not possible, to another method the client has used before. There is no minimum for withdrawals to cards and e-wallets, while withdrawals to a bank account require at least $50. A 10% fee applies to any withdrawal of $500 or more that does not meet the minimum trading volume, where each $500 withdrawn requires $200,000 of turnover.

Localisation and support

The website and educational materials are available in English. Support runs 24/5 by phone, live chat and WhatsApp with a personal account manager. A South African phone line is published (+27 875 502 210) and email support is at [email protected].

Bonus

A first-deposit bonus of 20% is offered on deposits from $100 to $10,000, with a minimum credit of $20 and a maximum of $2,000. The bonus is trading credit that cannot be withdrawn and is debited if no trades are placed within 30 days; it cannot be used on the 1:2000 forex leverage tier on MetaTrader.

Regulation & Licenses

File first with the broker: the Ombud takes a complaint only if the broker failed to resolve it within six weeks. Then escalate to the FAIS Ombud: faisombud.co.za, email [email protected], free for the complainant. The Ombud mediates and can award compensation up to R3.5 million (previously R800,000; the new limit applies to complaints received from 1 July 2024 and is not retrospective). Costs and interest fall outside the limit, and the limit itself can be exceeded if the responding party agrees in writing.
